Teather Walls Architects Limited were retained by Group Lotus plc for a substantial development programme at their UK base in Hethel, Norfolk as part of their overall design and production engineering strategy. The work included the following elements: Preparation of site development masterplan based on a detailed analysis of current use and future requirements. Implementation of new traffic flow scheme incorporating gatehouse, dual carriageway approach and secure loading/unloading facilities (completed) Specialist 'low cost' building to house 'state of the art' engine test cell facilities (completed) Research and Development Centre where the brief was to evolve a building which reflects the leading edge approach to technology of the client (substantially complete) Design and Fit out of Styling Studios - believed to be largest in Europe(completed) Extending and adapting existing facilities to increase production capacity from 4,000 to 10,000 cars per annum including the new Lotus Exige and the Vauxhall VX220 for General Motors (completed) CONTACT Christopher Walls RIBA - Tel +44 (0)1603 879880 Email admin@twa.co.uk
