Lead member of review team for the new School Premises Regulations:-

A lead member of the team appointed by DCSF in 2007 to carry out 'Mapping of legislation in support of the revision of the School Premises Regulations'.

The commission involved a far reaching review of the existing regulations and related regulations and consideration of relevance for future School Premises Regulations.

Procurement route expertise

25 years of design and build experience gained from senior roles both as multi-disciplinary design service providers in private practice and construction management service providers with three of the top 10 UK building contractors:-

Roles undertaken include Lead Designer, PFI Bid Manager, Architect, Design Manager and Design Co-ordinator.

Consultant appointments expertise

20 years of drafting consultants' appointments to meet the specific requirements of different procurement routes:-

Detailed understanding of the roles of the participants within the building process from inception to completion enabling concise definition of consultant roles.

PFI expertise

Bid Management experience gained from providing Bid Management Services on 4 Education Sector Projects including both primary and secondary schools and including the largest current PFI Schools Sector Educational Project in the UK:-

Provides valuable background knowledge in support of the role of Lead Designer.

MMC expertise

Extensive high level links with Off Site Construction specialists through dedicated research projects:-

More recently the focus has shifted to the benefits of high mass construction techniques and we have developed strong relationships with key players in the precast concrete sector.

We have developed an examplar sixth form block design incorporating advanced natural ventilation techniques in combination with thermal mass and anticipate that the first live project will be ready for occupation Sept 2009.

Commissions are undertaken under the direct control of either Andrew Teather or Christopher Walls who remain closely involved throughout the duration of any commission. Where substantial additional resource is required the company has in place a partnership with LSI Architects LLP ensuring that commitment and quality is maintained from inception to completion.
