The clients brief was to produce a fast track, low cost building which retains tangible links with the design standards of the Lotus Cars' Research and Development Centre, also designed by Teather Walls Architects Limited. The Production Hall project entailed extending and adapting existing facilities to increase production capacity from 4000 cars per annum to 10000 cars per annum, including the new Lotus Elise and the Vauxhall VX220 for General Motors.
